¶ Get access to the Codex
Draw Steel is out and you want to play online!
We are still working away hard on the Codex, but we think that it's already a great option for playing Draw Steel, right now. We want to expand our pool of players, and as of right now, are willing to offer access to anyone who wants it.
To receive access, please join our discord. Head on over to the #bot-commands channel where you can type /requestmykey and our bot Keymaster will send you a Direct Message with your key and instructions on how to redeem it!
The system requirements for the Codex are a PC or Mac with Steam, running at a resolution of at least 1920x1080, with 8GB of RAM or more. Windows 10 or later or MacOS 15.4 or later.
Receiving a Codex key will give you access to the Codex while we are in Beta. It does not guarantee you continued access when it goes on sale. Please be aware that while we do our best to avoid it, there may be times that we need to do data wipes.
This wiki has documentation designed to get you started with the Codex but for those of you are more visual learners, we recommend this video which serves as a primer in operating the Codex and set expectations on the experience you can expect.
We have a very active discord community, filled with experienced testers who are very willing to help. Please feel free to drop a message in our help channel on the discord.
¶ Install the Codex
The Codex is distributed through Steam and you will need to have this application installed and have an active account before you can redeem your key. You can download Steam here.
Once you have Steam installed and you have logged in. Click on the Games menu, then select Activate a product on Steam and enter your key. This will add Draw Steel Codex to your Library. Click on Draw Steel Codex and Install.
Once the Codex has finished downloading, click Play and the Codex will launch. You will first be prompted to Log in or Register a new account. If this is your first time using the Codex, you will need to Register a new account. Please note that this is a different account database than DMHub so even if you have an existing DMHub account, you will need to go through the process of registering a new account.
